Carnaby Street

'All you need is Love'.......

This image from late 2008 when I first started with the iPhone. We were out walking in London and ended up on Carnaby Street....This has always been one of my favorite early images from the early iPhone days. This was, in all likelihood, an hdr application and Photo Forge. Photo Forge was the early leader in processing applications.

I did a bit of re-processing in Filterstorm this morning....

These two images are an example of local image management to call attention to a particular part of the frame. In this case the 'LOVE' balloon on the top image was lightened, added contrast and sharpened to pop the balloon out from the buildings. Additionally the background was slightly darkened with slightly increased contrast...Quite simple and effective way to manage your image whether it be the iPhone or a more traditional camera.

iPhone Time Machine

I was looking at some old iPhone image folders today and thought why not post a few from the 'Way Back Time Machine' of my iPhone experience. These images go back maybe two plus years and I think one might even be a '2'.....

This was all brought about by looking at the work of an extremely talented Russian iPhoneographer, Natali Prosveta,  who I discovered on the facebook page, iPhoneography with Teri Lou.....  Nat, as I call her, only has the iPhone2 and yet makes provocative, personal images - little vignettes of her life in Moscow - check out her facebook page....just click on her name above.

These images posted today are from a trip to London back a few years where I first discovered the wahoo quality of this new device - something that may have been lost a bit with the advent of so many new applications. But in truth one of the wonderful qualities of the iPhone camera is it's ability to capture those fleeting truthful moments - something I need to remember moving forward.

Sunrise - Hyde Park

I have gotten into the habit of looking out my window at sunrise whenever I travel - need to see what the day has to offer interns of light.

This morning I was up early getting ready to depart London when this scene appeared outside my hotel room window. No time for anything but an iPhone capture and then out the door to the airport.

At first it seemed s bit washed out but eventually I figured out a way to make that work for the image. By washed out I meant there were reflections from the room in the window that I did not have time to fix. I pressed the iPhone up to window, captured the image, but still ended up with a few soft areas. In the end the soft feel gives the image a neat look. For me the lines of the pavement are a nice foreground for the sunrise.

Truehdr, dynamic light, filter storm, iris, photo forge and sketchmee were used.
