Photoshop Touch for the iPad

Fonthill, Bucks County, Pennsylvania
Adobe has released Photoshop Touch for the iPad. Have not had time to get into yet but on the surface it seems rather adequate. It has image blending, various color specials, drop shadow text, composite, painting, frames, sketch, layers, color replacement, painting to name a few features.

There are also several tutorials inside the application that explain most of the features.....Seems like it could turn out to be a real winner...

Fonthill, Pennsylvania

Driveway, Fonthill, Bucks County, Pennsylvania
This image goes back a few years when I visited Fonthill in Bucks County, Pennsylvania with my friend John Barclay.  John runs workshops and photo tours out of Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

According to Wikipedia Fonthill was the home of Henry Chapman Mercer from Doylestown, Pennsylvania.  Constructed in the early 1900's with 44 rooms and over 200 windows...The home contains many decorative tiles the Mercer made during the Arts and Crafts movement as well as artifacts from his world travels. Next door to Fonthil sits the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works also built by Henry Mercer...

If you ever find yourself in the Bucks County, Pennsylvania area stop by - well worth your time.

I will be making a presentation at the Photography Club of Lower Fairfield County in  Stamford, Connecticut  on Wednesday night, January 18   Click here HERE for information. Hope to see you there...

Artistic Block

Fonthill - Bucks County
For the past 6 or 7 weeks I have been in a creative dark hole - nothing seemed to interest me....Maybe it was that I was back in my old touring world working on a one time project to make some money to support my image addiction toys....Yup just maybe that was it....takes one's head back to the left side of the brain....

The cure - A ROAD TRIP...... First stop was Seattle where I met old friends - facebook friends - Teri Lou Dantzler, Scooter Lowrimore and Charles 'Dick' Maclauchlan. I have known Dick and Scooter only on FB for the last year....have watched their images pass my screen but had never met them until a few days ago.  We broke some bread and had a great time shooting - both in Seattle and up in Olympic National Park.
Fonthill Original.....
I decided the cure for getting my head back into my iPhone work was to re-process older images using the new technology for the iPhone. Today's image is from last year at Fonthill in Bucks County......a 28 image Autostitch panoramic processed in Photo Studio, Perfect Photo, Snapseed and Filterstorm. I started right from the beginning of the process by re-doing the Autostitch....

Teri Lou Dantzler and I are teaching an iPhone creativity class on Whidbey Island starting on Friday at 1PM....there are still a few places open.....here is the link to The Pacific Northwest Art School...

Fonthill - Redoux in Iris Photo Suite

This Fonthill image has been redone using the just released Iris Photo Suite application for iPad users. And for sure I was not dis-appointed at all.

At first the interface is complicated as they have moved icons from where they lived on the older version. But once you find everything it becomes quite simple to navigate the app.  Iris has added several new processing tools in the FX, Auto-adjust and Adjustments dialog box at the top of the screen. And finally we have brush size and opacity to paint in and mask out areas with more control - this is huge. Be sure to check out the filters at the bottom of the screen as they have added some new twists.

Couple of excellent much needed improvements are the file save directly to your camera roll and quickly I might add. Additionally when choosing an image the folder pops up on-screen for easy navigation and selection.

All this is after using it once this morning - will get more time to play over the next few days and see what else I can learn. If I have any complaint it would be making the image size adjustment a bit more clear. Possibly the go button in the dialog box along with the cancel icon...then it would seem to follow in order...but this is a very small nitpick compared to the rest...

In the meantime have some fun out there.

PS: Sorry but can't remember how I got to this image - just went in and played....

Dynamic Light

Yes, still working on learning 'Dynamic Light' the new application on yesterday's blog post.

I went back into the archives and re--processed an early image (see re-processed image above) using 'Dynamic Light'. Depending on what you are looking for this application pops color and contrast and generally opens up the image - I would guess one's taste could go either way but on a personal level I can see using this for certain types of images, possibly even creating an image to blend back in with the original for effect.

The application is simple to use with easy to understand settings, and, on the tests I have done appears to hold resolution.

The image below was the image I re-processed in Dynamic Light.

This application is well worth exploring further.

This image is a 27 image composite stitched together using the auto-stitch application at standard resolution.
